Name every role in the transaction
Write down the registered owner, person presenting the vehicle, contracting seller, invoice issuer, bank-account holder and person who will complete the transfer. If these are different parties, obtain an explanation and supporting authority for every link.
A dealer’s possession of the keys or documents does not by itself answer whether it owns the vehicle, holds it on consignment or acts under a power of attorney. The sale agreement should reflect the real arrangement.
Evidence to request
Depending on the structure and jurisdiction, relevant evidence may include a valid power of attorney, consignment agreement, corporate authorization, owner confirmation or title-transfer documentation. Verify important documents with the issuer or a qualified professional where appropriate.
- Current owner identity and vehicle record
- Written authority identifying the vehicle and permitted act
- Identity and authority of the person signing for a company
- Payment instructions consistent with the contract
- A transfer process that includes the required owner or representative
Payment is part of the evidence chain
If payment is requested to an unrelated individual or account, stop and resolve the discrepancy. The contract, invoice, beneficial recipient and transfer process should form a coherent record.
Use traceable payment methods and state the conditions for release of funds. Large non-refundable deposits are especially risky while authority, finance clearance or vehicle identity remains unresolved.
When to seek professional help
Cross-border consignments, estates, companies, powers of attorney and disputed ownership can create legal questions that a checklist cannot determine. Use a UAE-qualified lawyer or the relevant authority when the right to sell is uncertain.
